The Offering was my first San Miguel-inspired piece. I was working on an MFA in sculpture at the Instituto Allende, and every day in the doorway of this school sat a woman selling calla lilies, one of my favorite flowers. She would hold her wares out for all to view. I became a frequent customer. She is an old woman now, and I see her often in the town. We know each other and always exchange greetings. If you wish to see her, rent the movie "Once Upon a Time in Mexico," filmed in part in San Miguel - she is the old woman in the church scene. I consider her a friend."
